Staying Fit: Hop-A-Thon, Fun Run and Powell Track

I love that our schools have many outlets to promote health and fitness with our kiddos!
 Hop-A-Thon 2015
PTO sponsored event that raised around $11,000 this year for our school!

 Fun Run 2015
Our Hopkins kiddos run up the hill to Twain Elementary and then we all run back together.
The PTO buys a Hopkins T-shirts for every kid in the school- just LOVE this tradition!

Our PE teacher runs this event for the school.
 Powell Track and Field

The twins signed up for this after school and I was so proud of them for trying!
Can't even believe they could jump over those hurdles.
 long jump

100 meter dash
Love that they are growing up with lots of exercise!

Summer Sports Fun

Elijah had another year of baseball this summer. He was in the 2nd/3rd rec league and he was the only 2nd grader on the team with 3rd graders so he was pretty small. But the cool thing about baseball is that you don't have to be big:) He is a quick runner and did really well.

Mark helped Miss Julia coach and it was a fun 2 months.

Sophia also played her second summer of softball and really could hit that ball!
She played a variety of spots and she said her favorite was catcher.

So thankful for all our friends and family who came out to watch the kids play!

Thanks for caring about what our kids care about!

Wrapping up Summer Sports for Sophia

Sophia did so well this summer in softball. She had never played before and starting out was a big learning curve but by her last game, she was doing so well. She got to play catcher and pitcher this season. The last game, she was working together with first base to get outs and everything! It was so fun to watch. Her coach said she was definitely the most improved player on the team. She got a cool little trophy that she's so excited about:) We are so grateful for Grandma and Grandpa, Ruby and Alice and Cole and Katelyn who came out and watched her play this season. And part of our Missional Community Group came out to cheer her on for her last game! Fun times!

Sophia's Softball Skills

Sophia started softball last week and its been fun to watch her learn and get better. I also love that this is her own thing separate from Arianna. When you have twins, they end up doing everything together. But as they are getting older, we want to try to encourage more uniqueness and individuality between them. Arianna has been playing the piano for a while now and we are splitting them up into two different fifth grades next year. Its hardest on Arianna. Sophia loves the distinctiveness. Sophia also seems to be the sportier and tougher of the twins, so this suited her to a tee.

Soph was really excited to start batting practice-
she did decent and wanted me to video her so her daddy could see.
