Staying Fit: Hop-A-Thon, Fun Run and Powell Track

I love that our schools have many outlets to promote health and fitness with our kiddos!
 Hop-A-Thon 2015
PTO sponsored event that raised around $11,000 this year for our school!

 Fun Run 2015
Our Hopkins kiddos run up the hill to Twain Elementary and then we all run back together.
The PTO buys a Hopkins T-shirts for every kid in the school- just LOVE this tradition!

Our PE teacher runs this event for the school.
 Powell Track and Field

The twins signed up for this after school and I was so proud of them for trying!
Can't even believe they could jump over those hurdles.
 long jump

100 meter dash
Love that they are growing up with lots of exercise!

My parents visit Colorado

It was SOO wonderful to have my mom and step-dad come visit us for a few days in September!
We had such a lovely visit and enjoyed every second of it!
We took them to Daniel's park to see the amazing views of the mountains at sunset.

We also went up to Idaho Springs and hiked St. Mary's Glacier.
Mom and I shopped in the little town and we all ate at
Beau Jo's Pizza- a Colorado must-experience restaurant.

SNOW on the glacier!

Mom and I did some shopping on Old Main Street in Littleton- SO FUN!

We also stopped by Red Rocks to see the views!

It was sad seeing them go. Thanks, Mom and Tim, for a great visit!
Come back SOON!!!

Devil's Head Hike

This is a throwback to September 7th when we hiked up to Devil's Head Lookout. This is a terrific hike for kids and it's super fun once you reach the top! There is an awesome fire lookout station up hundreds of stairs and you feel like you are on top of the world!

Rock scrambling is everyone's favorite thing!

On the way back down we saw the Lee's and we hiked back down the mountain with them.
made the 2nd half of the hike so much fun!

a few weeks before on July 21st, they had a tornado touch down on the mountain and level around 500 ft of trees! It was incredible to see the damage! and to see that tornadoes do happen in the mountains!
