Veterans Day 2014

Veteran's day at Hopkins is one of my favorite assemblies. The girl scouts and boy scouts march the flags in and each class sings the theme song for every branch of the military. There is an awesome slide show of pictures of family members who have served our country and one kid from each class reads an essay they wrote about Veterans Day. Many veterans come for the assembly and I love the respect and honor the kids show them on this day.

Little Findley, whom I babysit a few days a week, joined in on the fun!

Happy Veterans Day 2013

Hopkins had a special Veterans Day assembly and we were honored to have grandpa come.
This is my little Daisy Girl Scout troop- my friend Rebekah and I started a 1st grade troop at Hopkins this year. It is a blast and we have some awesome little girls!
The scouts got to walk the flag into the assembly.
Grandpa was recognized for serving during the Vietnam War in the Marines.

Ari was a bit emotional after the video that was played honoring all the Veterans:)
It was nice walking the hallways and seeing all the papers the kids wrote about Veterans Day.

THANK YOU Veterans!

Today we celebrate the men and women who have fought and are fighting for our freedom as Americans!
I am thankful for their sacrifice.
I am honored to have people in my family who have served their country.
I am so very blessed to enjoy freedom today.

I am so grateful that the twins school spends a good part of their morning honoring these men and woman and remembering the wonderful gift of freedom we have in America today! The twins were part of the ceremony since they are girl scouts this year! They were so excited to present the flags and hand out flowers to the vets.

The second grade class sang the Navy song- all the other classes also sang different songs from different branches of the military!
After the ceremony, I was in charge of the food table. It went really well and looked cute too:)
I'm all about presentation- its my favorite part of the job:)
It was a good morning- remembering that freedom really isnt FREE-
it cost many people dearly and I will always be grateful and
pass that spirit of respect for our veterans down to my children!
