Devil's Head Hike

This is a throwback to September 7th when we hiked up to Devil's Head Lookout. This is a terrific hike for kids and it's super fun once you reach the top! There is an awesome fire lookout station up hundreds of stairs and you feel like you are on top of the world!

Rock scrambling is everyone's favorite thing!

On the way back down we saw the Lee's and we hiked back down the mountain with them.
made the 2nd half of the hike so much fun!

a few weeks before on July 21st, they had a tornado touch down on the mountain and level around 500 ft of trees! It was incredible to see the damage! and to see that tornadoes do happen in the mountains!

Hiking Roxborough Park

On another VERY sunny and warm day in February (we've had a lot of those kinda days), our family went on a nice Saturday hike in Roxborough Park. I love this Park for hiking. It's close to home; the red rocks are gorgeous; there are a plethora of trails and its just so pretty.

We got to try out (for the first time) the new water back packs that Aunt Abbey got us for Christmas!
They worked great!
I'm not sure why these are the first trail markers you see.
It always scares the kids half to death right at the beginning of the hike:)

Summer Flashback: Devil's Head Hike

One of our favorite family hikes is Devils Head. Its a nice, shorter hike that boasts amazing views and a cool boulder climb up tons of stairs at the end. We did this hike this summer back in June!

Look at those views! They are amazing!

The kids friend Savannah joined us:)

This active fire lookout is at the top of the hike. An old man lives at the top of the mountain and has spotted many forest fires in his long career:)
