San Diego Trip

Mark and I were able to get away with friends for a few days to San Diego for a conference. It was an amazing week and we enjoyed being encouraged through the Soma Conference and encouraged in our marriage. Spending time away without the kids was so refreshing and gave life and new breath to us as a couple. It had been about 3 years since we got away and we were so thankful for Mark's parents watching the twins and the Lee's watching the younger two. They were in great hands and knowing that made us able to relax and enjoy our trip! We did plan a little extra time to enjoy the city by arriving really early Monday and leaving late on Thursday!
The Mission for brunch on Monday (amazing food!)

We biked around the city and to the bay. The weather was in the 60's all week.

Snacks at Half Door Brewing Company across from our hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Indigo and the view was beautiful!
We got lots of these messages from our kids via email all trip long!

Cool coffee shop that had amazing toast!
We used Uber for the first time to get around the city and it was really cool and very inexpensive. We went to Ocean Beach one afternoon.
Stopped by Hodads'- amazing burgers and was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

Loved walking along the beach!

We got to spend time with the other elders celebrating
Melody's birthday at BICE restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter.
Yummy Italian!

Just love our elder team! They encourage me daily and are dear friends.
Also really grateful to be part of the SOMA network of churches. Was so cool to hear from many of the pastors in different parts of the world living missionally and serving their communities and sharing Jesus and the Gospel. We heard from Bob Roberts and Jeff Vandersault and was so encouraged to keep on keeping on in our mission to live all of life saturated in the Gospel.
Mark and I also visited La Jolla Beach- probably my favorite beach spot.
But first we got breakfast at Cafe 222.
It was a cool local spot and tiny and diner-y.
I miss those in CO.

 The cliffs were so beautiful!

The seals came tight up into the cove to sleep and play. The kids would have LOVEd them!

For lunch we grabbed seafood at another great Diners, Drive in and Dives local spot-
the line was out the door the whole time we were there, so you know its good! and SO fresh!

Once the conference was over, we went over to Coronado Island and walked the beach.
It was beautiful. We were definitely ready to come home byThursday! Missed the kiddos so much!

And we amazingly got upgraded to the first row for free on the flight home! So much space!
