Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

We had snow last night and it is beautiful this morning. I live in the city, not the woods, but looking out the back window at the large pine tree reminded me of growing up in the woods. Even in the city, when it snows, it is quiet, or should I say "quieter".
It would be so beautiful and quiet in the deep woods behind my house in Pennsylvania.
I miss the woods of my childhood.

On another note, the kids have school. I am babysitting for a friend who just had twins, not babysitting the twins, but her 2 yr old. I have a friend coming over for lunch and good conversation.  And then Mark and I are headed out for a quiet evening of coffee and maybe a book while the kiddos are entertained by a high schooler. Gotta love having a husband who is a high school teacher and a school that gives service credits for free babysitting!
Should be a lovely day- snow and all.

Homemade Brown Sugar

Super excited that I was able to make my very own brown sugar!
 My friend Christine recommended the process and it couldn't have been easier.
Take 1 cup of sugar and 1 TBSP of molasses
 Mix in the kitchen Aid for 10-15 minutes until nice and fluffy.
I made 4 cups altogether and stored it in an airtight container.
If you like darker brown sugar, you can always add more molasses.
FYI: During the mixing process it looks like it just might not work but
let it mix the full time allotted and I promise it will come together:)
Now, go bake some cookies:)
My homemade sugar is on the bottom and the leftover store-bought on the top.

Car Seat Cover and Superhero Doll- More Sewing projects

I've been on another sewing kick lately. This car seat cover was for a friend who is having a baby soon. It was very easy to make although I butchered a corner pretty badly:) I didn't use a pattern but just eyeballed it with a friends carseat. I used a yard of the gray zebra fabric and a yard of the soft yellow chenille fabric, both found at Joanne's.
 This was a doll for a birthday party.
I purchased a pattern at Dolls and Daydreams for this one and it was very detailed and easy to follow. The instructions were visually pleasing to the eye and I would highly recommend using any pattern form her shop. The cool thing is that you can sell your creations as long as you give credit to her shop. This little superhero also has a pair of glasses and a bowtie and both glasses can actually be worn.
Both were fun things to work on. I just am amazed that these things can be created out of a piece of fabric with minimal effort. I think that is why I enjoy sewing so much.

{BUNCO GIRLS NIGHT}

Bunco seems to be all the rage lately so I had 12 ladies over for some dice rolling fun. We enjoyed chocolate fondue and got to know a lot of new friends.
I found these cute free printables here
Once the game got started I forgot to take pictures of all the fun.

Valentines Day {the school version}

Elijah had his Valentine Party on Wednesday. I was able to help with it which was fun. I had the kiddos thread beads on a pipe cleaner and then glued them on a photo magnet of the kiddos. I also found this cute little LOVE POX note and got tiny heart stickers to stick on their faces. The kids thought it was hilarious:) Elijah passed out superhero Valentines (a free printable online) and we attached superhero tattoos for the boys and markers for the girls.

I was able to come watch Ella decorate her little picture frame and eat cupcakes. She wanted bubbles for her valentine so once again I found a free printable online and we got a huge pack of bubbles at Michaels.

 I am the classroom rep for the twins class so we decided to throw a pizza party instead of lots of sweets! We played tic tac toe with candy hearts and enjoyed a yummy lunch. Arianna passed out lip whistles valentines and Sophia made YOU ROCK button pin valentines.
